Sedation Dentistry
Your Comfort is Our Priority
Some patients are apprehensive or phobic about dental procedures, especially if they have experienced dental pain, trauma or have had extensive work done in the past. Sedation Dentistry offers the option of having dental procedures completed in-office in a state of deep relaxation using prescribed oral anti-anxiety medication, or in some cases, in-office IV sedation.
Unlike general anesthesia, sedation dentistry patients are able to breathe on their own and respond to verbal instruction. This type of sedation often has an amnesic affect, so many patients do not remember the procedure itself, just that they went to the dentist.
Our dental treatment areas are also equipped with Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for a mildly relaxing effect during dental treatment.
Dr. Galbo has been administering sedation for 20 years and holds a State of Georgia sedation permit. He maintains current certification in anesthesiology and emergency medicine, and has been on the medical/surgical staff of Piedmont Newnan Hospital for 21 years, which allows him to assist patients that require general anesthesia in the safety of a hospital environment. Dr. Galbo also maintains current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), this training helps him to be prepared for any unforeseen medical emergencies.
